What is Mental Health
Our mental health is shaped by individual, community and societal factors, past and present, that vary in each person’s life. This section provides resources on what is Mental health, things that can negatively affect our mental health, and information on a few common mental health issues such as grief, loss, PTSD and vicarious trauma.
Caring for Yourself
It is important to look after our mental health. Mental wellbeing enables us to cope with the stresses of life, realise our abilities, learn well and work well, and contribute to our community. This section outlines the warning signs of deteriorating mental health, and strategies that improve mental health.
Caring for Others
Whether it is caring for a person or animal, caring for others is something most of us do. It can be caring for a relative, as a profession, or just wanting to touch base with a friend or neighbour that is struggling. The resources in this section cover how to have a conversation with someone about how they are traveling, mental health information for those in the caring professions, first responders, those caring for a loved one, and wildlife carers.
Support Available
This section has contact numbers for those who are in crisis and need help now. It also has contact numbers for those wanting to improve or bolster their mental health by engaging with community based activities and services.
Online Resources
This is a collection of websites and apps with more information and resources to improve mental health.
